Consumers and retailers may refer to the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for proper storage, handling and disposal of product. However, it is important to note that SDS’s are written to address the product as sold in commerce and not exposure after the product has been applied to a pool or spa. The SDS addresses the hazards associated with product as sold, including occupational exposure prior to dilution to use levels in swimming pool and spa water. Occupational exposure means exposure to large quantities of concentrated material over long periods of time. The SDS must also provide HazMat information in the event of an incident involving quantities much larger than would be purchased by a consumer (i.e. transportation by the manufacturer or distributor). The exposure level will be much lower after application. These application levels have been reviewed by competent authorities (such as the U.S. Environment Protection Agency)
